Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions teams ask most about No-ID. Can't find what you need? Reach out and we'll help.
- What is No-ID?
- No-ID identifies a real person using their government-issued electronic ID. Your app calls our API; we validate the credential against the issuing authority's PKI, confirm the person holds it, and issue a passkey for frictionless future sign-ins.
- Which countries and IDs do you support?
- No-ID works with government-issued electronic IDs, each validated against that country's national PKI. Peru is available today, with more countries on the way — see the Coverage section or contact us about your country.
- What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2?
- Level 1 is a device session: the user signs in with a passkey or app-bound key, with no eID needed. Level 2 forces a fresh eID verification with a new proof-of-possession challenge — used for sensitive actions.
- How does proof of possession work?
- During enrollment, the eID signs a one-time challenge with the private key on its chip. Only someone holding the genuine card can produce a valid signature, which we verify against the card's certificate issued by the national authority.
- What does "certified result" mean?
- Every verification produces a clear verdict — verified or not — with an assurance level and a certificate you can store as proof that the check took place and what it concluded.
- How do I integrate No-ID?
- Start an enrollment to get a challenge, have the eID sign it, complete the enrollment via our REST API, then authenticate users with standard WebAuthn passkeys. See the documentation for request and response details.
- What data do you collect and store?
- We validate the eID against the issuing authority and retain what is needed to produce and certify a result and to meet legal obligations. Retention is configurable on paid plans. See the Compliance page for details.
- What happens if the eID is expired or revoked?
- Enrollment fails with a clear error. No-ID checks the certificate chain and real-time revocation (OCSP/CRL), so revoked or expired documents can't be used.
- How much does it cost?
- Pricing is usage-based per enrollment. There is a free Starter tier for testing, per-enrollment pricing for production, and custom Enterprise terms. See the Pricing page.
